And I’m done with fall quarter classes! This week was mostly preoccupied with turning in my final papers. The highlight was Her Campus’s Secret Santa party for the last meeting of the quarter. I think I got the best gift: a donation to Planned Parenthood! (Though I was pretty happy to give my gift, too–Women in Science: 50 Fearless Pioneers Who Changed the World by Rachel Ignotofsky, for a proud STEMinist.)
Also, a really pretty calico cat named Flora ran into our apartment and I got a free stuffed tiger with purchase of UCD clothing from the holiday sale. I named him Agnes. Agnes is a boy.
Now back to studying for finals.
Wrapped up The Winter’s Tale in Shakespeare and Pleistocene dynamism in Biogeography. Oscar Wilde’s “The Decay of Lying” in Literary Theory. Mary Wollstonecraft’s Vindication of the Rights of Woman and Jane Austen’s delightful Lady Susan in Women’s Writing. Lit Theory and Shakespeare (of course) had the best concluding remarks.
Read Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie’s HALF OF A YELLOW SUN and wow, it was good. Musical highlights were Morrissey’s Vauxhall & I and Leonard Cohen’s You Want It Darker (RIP).
